WASGAMUWA NATIONAL PARK

Wasgamuwa National Park is one of the few national parks in Sri Lanka. This is located in the dry zone and wet zone area, which is located in the Matale district and the Polonnaruwa district, which starts from the eastern slopes of the central hills. Hence, the climate is near the eastern province of Sri Lanka and the climatic conditions in the central hills. Therefore, the Wasgamuwa National Park shows the complex features of biodiversity.

ANIMALS

The Wasgamuwa National Park, which shows the complex characteristics of biodiversity, is home to not only elephants but also bears, leopards, deer, willows, wild boars, hares, wild cats. The size of the huge crocodile is very common in the tanks of the park. Thousands of small birds, including 23 mammal species and 35 reptile species living there.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit the Wasgamuwa National Park from June to September is considered to be from every day from 6 am to 6 pm every day. You can use the necessary transportation facilities for visiting wild animals. Visitors are also allowed to visit and study the wild animals of the wildlife, have fun, and have 7 camps in the park.

LOCATION

Located to the southeast of the country, ( 320 kilometers ,200 mile due east of Colombo.)  It houses several lodges and boutique hotels and receives the maximum number of tourists from May to December.
