Surf in Arugambay
The main point which is situated at the south of the seashore is the most favourite spot of many experienced local and foreign surfers. This place is best for surfing as it has fiercely high waves. If you come in the morning you can see many foreign surfers surfing. And this area is most suitable for experienced surfers only.
Baby point is situated a little away from the main shore and it is cut out for surfers in training and beginners. The reason being that this place does not have that much of big waves and the disposition of this place is very safe and protective. Hence this is suitable for beginners and novice surfers for surfing.
Regarding surfing equipments
At the Arugambay beach, you can buy or rent each and every equipment necessary for surfing. You can find a fair amount of sellers who sell branded surfing equipment as well.
If you wish to have a boat tour around and set your eyes on the beauty of the beach to its full extent, then that is also possible. There are several people who can provide you with boating service at the beach. You can even get life jackets and go on a boat tour for a little amount of money.
Muhudhu Maha Viharaya
This Buddhist temple is another popular place among tourists who visit Arugambay. It is situated about 5km away from the Arugambay beach to the left. This stupa holds a history of a 2000 year and it was believed to be built by King Kawantissa. According to the ancient book of Rjawaliya this temple was built at the place where Queen Viharamahadevi landed on Sri Lanka.
