Sri Lanka consists of a widespread network of inland roads for transportation. E grade highways are newly added to the road system in recent years. These roads have controlled access and provide the facility to speed up to 100 KMPH. It provides convenience to by-pass busy and congested roads. Using this road saves time. Other than that, there are A and B grade roads C and D grade which comes under Road Development Authority Provincial Road Development Authority respectively.
In addition to that, transportation can be done through trains. There are railroads for some main cities of the country. The railroad network lies along the most beautiful sceneries in main lines, coastal lines and up-country lines. Moreover, air and water-based transportation can be seen in some parts of the country as well.
